Guía definitiva sobre gimnasios en Bangkok
Several dudes email me every month asking where are the best gyms in Bangkok. For a country in South East Asia, most weightlifting gyms in Bangkok cost way too much in my opinion. After living in Thailand for 3 years, half the places listed in this article cost more than gyms in England, and I’m not quite sure why that is.
If you want to get laid in Tailandia gratis, check out this article.
But anyway, here’s a breakdown of all the gyms in Bangkok located near the Sukhumvit BTS line, how much they cost and where they are located and what they offer.
Tony’s Fitness
Sadly there is little information about Tony’s Fitness gym in Bangkok. Located on Sukhumvit 19, Tony’s Fitness is the cheapest gym in Lower Sukhumvit that also offers the best value for money.
Tony’s Fitness membership prices start at 900 baht a month or 2,900 baht for the whole year. Yes year, you’ll save so much money working out here you’ll be able to get a masaje jabonoso en Bangkok every month in savings.
The gym has no air-con or any of the fancy things you would expect from a posh gym, but does have a squat rack, bench and heavy enough weights to get you swole.
The place is open 24 hours so great for night owls.
- Best for :People who want to lift heavy weights at a gym that has everything on a budget.
Club de raqueta
En Club de raqueta is located on Sukhumvit 49 (between Thong Lo and Phrom Phong BTS). They have a fairly large gym, rock climbing wall, two pools, squash, tennis and badminton courts.
They offer a number of daily classes like yoga and body fit which are all in Thai but you can do them as they are easy to follow.
Chatuchak Park to the left of the BTS. 3km marked running track, two weights areas, walk further towards the market and you can hire mountain bikes and ride purpose made cycle park.
Bike hire was about 80 baht an hour a few years back, also a weights area in that park.
Weights, running and big aerobic classes with the loud music and mostly women taking part.
ALL FREE! Better after 6pm when no visitors hanging round the park, just keep fit fanatics.
Ekkamai school is great value and they have the pool for 30 Baht too.
Muay Thai gyms also have weights and punchbags, plus training. Usually about 300 Baht a session if you wanna learn to fight.
Ingram gym next to Ekkamai is a Thai/Japanese run place, you’ll be training alongside several champions past & present, great bunch of guys.
If that’s your thing.
Muay Thai lessons have gone up everywhere quite a bit. I can’t find a play for less than 400 baht these days, usually it’s 450-500 unless you get a month package.
Pat to the rescue!!
Thanks for leaving comments here man, this is EXACTLY what im looking for (I stay in Ekkamai).
Hey man, do you any good, farang friendly Muay Thai places?
No Muay Thai gym in Thailand has farang friendly prices. You will always be paying 400 baht or more.
Many thanks for your update on the Ultimate Guides for Bangkok Gym.
Those prices you mentioned in your blog is simliar to gym prices in Singapore where I live.
I truly enjoyed your blog.
Any chance of updating the cost of living in BANGKOK, a post you wrote a couple of years ago.
Hey WL Chee,
I will do so in the upcomming weeks hopefully.
hi Harvie, if you are still around, could you contact me … I am a journalist here who is just about to write a feature article on gyms in Bangkok … cheers mate … Robin …
Sure, you can reach me through the contact section on my site too.
Thai-Yippun is hard to beat for the money (50 baht year), but not exactly welcoming if you’re lifting weights. I used to go there and train power cleans and such because they have rubber weights as they have a youth olympic weightlifting team training there. They began locking bars down though, probably because you’re not supposed to use them if not a member of that team. The bodybuilding weightlifting area is home to some hardcore bodybuilders and again, not very welcoming to the average farang.
True Fitness does do their best to lock you down for a yearly membership but you can pay monthly with a credit card. A lot of cute girls there too. Good facilities.
Racket Club is also my favorite as you can also use their non-crowded pool and go for some laps afterwards. Expensive though.
Lumpini Park bro. Dirt cheap and has everything you need. If you don’t mind lifting outside with a bunch of shirtless Thai men. Think I paid 200 baht per month. Plus the park is just a great place to hang out.
Yeah the gym is decent and prob another good location to find steroids, a bit out the way unless you live in Lumpini though.
im not broke but i go to ekkamai school gym, just on a budget
hi ,
i just ask my thai girl to call true fitness they charge 5000 baht for one month… so i think the price you mention here
not relevant.
fitness first told my girlfriend they don’t do monthly program any more… so i think it’s about time you will double check and update.
i’m going to check this place
Clark Hatch Fitness Centers – Thaniya Plaza.
I think it’s a lot less than that if you went inside. I will check again the next time I’m there to find out.
Great guide – thanks for your useful information! Can you apply for any free passes at these places if you’re only going to be in BKK for a few days? Some of these places are like 1000 baht for one visit!
Hey Shawn, sadly you can’t mate. Most want you to sign up for a year.
I want to join gym in sukhumvite 19…please connet me..I’m from sukhumvit 12.
Just go there or ask a moto driver to take you from the start of Soi 19.
Hey Harvie, great blog, very informative. I’m gunna be in Bangkok for a month, do you know if any of the gyms do les mills classes? Body pump, grit, body attack etc?
Hey Gill,
A few do things like that you have to read up on their site as they all offer different classes buddy.
hey there , great info but I went to 2/fitness firsts and.both quoted 2500 up credit card only and all.tuff selltalks ….anyone know if still can do for 2200 a month
Try Racket Club, 1950 if you get the 12 month membership.
Hi, great blog! I’m going to Bangkok in just a couple of days. I’m doing competitive powerlifting and desperately need a gym with decent enough equipment, which gym would you recommend for me when I want to do squat, deadlift and bench press? I live in Rama rd. near Lumpini Park, but the equipment in the park looks like it’s made for roidbro’s rather than powelifters. Any help would be highly appreciated. I am btw willing to travel far to get to a good gym if that’s what I have to do.
Fred
Your best bet by location would be Virgin Active in Sliom I think, they will have everything you need.
Thanks for the quick reply! I’ve seen some pictures now, looks like they have everything like you say. You have any idea what a week of training there would cost me? I have a feeling it won’t be cheap
It won’t be cheap. I think Virgin have a join up fee of 700b and then you pay around 1,250 per week. Yearly memberships are cheaper.
Also look for Clark Hatch Fitness, I know there’s one in Sliom too, that may be cheaper.
Fit4Fin on corner of soi 31 is where i normally train. 500/visit. 2500/month but they normally run some sort of promos. Its always super quiet (average of 2 people training in gym) but is closed on sundays and closes at 9pm. Limited cardio equipment (1 bike, elliptical, treadmill) but heaps of weights (dumbells up to 130lb i think) and a decent range of machines.
Pretty warm inside but thats not unusual.
Theres another new gym supposedly on soi 30 which i’m trying to find out about.
Nice, I think the gym on soi 30 is actually 30/1 and is inside the Waterford condo.
Harvie, your article lets itself down due to your objectification of women. You’d visit a place because there might be ‘attractive’ women to look at? How old are you? 15?
I assume you’re older, and in that case you should really know better. Most of your comments here are from men. I wonder why. Shame on them also for supporting this.
It was satire.
so you say somthing stupid and the you justify it by saying its satire
maybe start by learning what the word satire means befor you use it
What is satire? I’ve never heard of it before.
You’ve no idea how the male mind works, have you Jess. It’s hardwired in our DNA to want to fuck as many females as possible, one after the other, like rutting stags. Any males who deny this are either lying (to try to fuck you) or sterile.
You forgot to mention musclefactory near Onnut bts. Biggest hardcore gym in Asia, 250tbh day use.
Yes I did.
Hi is there any chance that you know someone who can help me to sign up gym membership at Virgin Active in Thailand?
You can sign up yourself, you don’t need help.
Thanks!!
If you’re not bang in the middle of Sukhumvit then there’s a gym near Onnut station called Fitnesslife, it’s about 7 minutes away from the BTS station ( tell the driver Fitnesslife Onnut saam5 sib2). It’s aircond, good modern equipment and fast wifi. https://www.fitnesslifebangkok.com/
