When someone messages me about staying in Thailand, I pretty much always advise them to use Airbnb over hotels. Not only do you get more value for money, you save a lot of the bullshit you get with hotels in Thailand.
In this article I’m going to tell you why Airbnb is better than hotels and the best Airbnb rentals in Bangkok based on price.
Airbnb or hotels in Bangkok?
There are a gang of reasons why I dislike hotels in Bangkok, such as:
Stupidity – Bangkok isn’t quiet, if your hotel is facing the main road or construction site….
In a western hotel, the staff are competent to know this and will put you in the quieter side of the hotel if the rooms are free. Value – hotels in Bangkok aren’t offering as great value as they once did. For 1,500b you get a small 17sq room, with no kitchen and sometimes no balcony. It can be annoying to leave your room at 11am when the sun is blasting to get breakfast after a drunken night out in Bangkok. With Airbnb
With Airbnb rentals most will have a kitchen for you to cook if need be, provide towels and toiletries (yes some hotels in Bangkok won’t have toiletries if you go low end).

for those prices you can also stay in good to baller hotels with great breakfast and even lounge access.(if you are dont want to cook yourself, or make breakfast after a night out) Never had a bad experience with Hotels in BKK.
Which hotels? My biggest issue with baller hotels is size and no kitchen. This means you always got to leave to eat and a studio rooms are not so big.
of course it depends on many things if you want to chose hotels or air bnb, hotels usually have a great breakfast, and i think for ppl on holiday thats the most important meal, as they will head outside and explore the city anyway during the day/night.
true that you have to leave your room when staying at the hotel for enjoying some food, at least if you dont want to eat in bed or on small table.

Isn’t airbnb less safe than hotel though? In the hotel girls get to leave their ID on reception with airbnb you don’t have much security in place in case the gir is dodgy.
In my 5 years here I’ve never heard a story from anyone about being robbed, but in that sense they are less secure. But if you practice common sense (put your expensive stuff in a bag with a lock), you should not be getting robbed at all.

There should be a hotel on Soi 4 that changes money I’d have thought, and there’s many ATMs.
Any Airbnb locations in Pattaya or Phuket by any chance or is it just not worth the trouble and just find a proper hotel?
There’s loads just change the search settings. Pattaya has many good Airbnbs.
My recent Air bnb experience was terrible. Book a condo, pay with credit card then it says “the host will approve your request within 24hrs”
So we tried another place thinking it had to be easier. Not a chance.
So my card details are at the mercy of a host who “might” let us stay and we hoped to arrive the next day.
And don’t defend them by saying “oh you should have booked earlier”
I could have had a hotel fully booked within 5 mins.
Now l’ve had to tell the bank not to accept any debits from Air bnb just in case it’s a scam. Read the trustpilot review pages and don’t try to tell me they are the best thing since sliced bread. They get 1.5 / 5 stars from over 300 reviews.
There are around 10 comments that somply read “f*** air bnb” which is exactly jow l feel…..and as l had to submit official id to create a profile they now have my bank details and id

Some hosts have “instant book” which lets you book right away, I would use them. I only use Airbnb nowadays because I like to cook my own food, never had issues with over 20+ bookings. Also when you book and wait for the host, almost always they accept it.
The value you get compared to hotels is so much better, however it’s not great if you want to book the day before as all the good rooms will be taken, that’s when hotels win because they have so many more rooms.
I’m sure you have had bad holiday experiences also mate.
My 2 cents. There are soooo, so many apartments in the area between Nana Plaza and Phrom Phong that look amazing for less than 75$/night, and that are comparable to 4-5 star hotels, one may feel like there’s a catch. For me, it’s the fear of not being allowed to bring a different girl for every night I’m there. The other advantage for a hotel is the breakfast, that much is true, but also the fact that at worst, reception may charge a fee for bringing in a ‘friend,’ as opposed to being flatout refused entrance with an airbnb apartment.
