What outdated or ‘imaginary’ information about Geylang. It was “a little bit better” 10 years ago – but not much. There IS a LOT of ‘brightly lit houses’ in Lorongs 20 – 8 , with their touts out front, but it IS very expensive an whereas in most other parts of Asia it is “for 1 hour” , HERE the price you pay is for 20 – 30mins tops. You COULD pay more, but you probably would have emptied your wallet after the first 20-30min. buy. Singapore is NOT where you go for cheap ANYTHING. Freelance hookers on the streets around Geylang have thinned out. A few Chinese who don’t speak or understand ANY English is all you’ll find – and some of these are “wrong side of 40”. If you are absolutely stuck here in Singapore and can’t get out, I guess you could try Geylang area. Apart from that, you’d be better heading to nearby Aljunied MRT Station and heading toward Airport to go to Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia …..but, also, Batam is a complete waste of time. Their “NED” nightlife area is on “life support” – you will be outnumbered by streetkids, beggars, and 100’s of local men just hanging around pretending they are motorbike taxi guys. It’s annoying and a waste of a ferry ticket to go there
